David’s connection to JA Worldwide runs deep. As a JA alumnus, he personally understands the organization’s impact on young entrepreneurs. His support for JA stems from his belief in our mission to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. "What I learned from Junior Achievement," David shared, "has been to enjoy the consistent, persistent pursuit of my potential."
David’s journey with Junior Achievement began at age 12, when he joined a JA program that ignited his entrepreneurial spirit. Over the ensuing decades, he remained deeply involved with JA, serving as a mentor, speaker, and advocate. Today, David serves as Chief Chancellor of JA University—a platform for continuous learning and connection among JA alumni, educators, and staff—and as a member of the JA Worldwide Global Council, and he continues to elevate JA alumni through his online platforms. His Apple TV series, 2 Minute Drill, has devoted an entire episode to JA alumni business ideas over the past three seasons, giving alumni all over the world the chance to pitch their businesses to a panel of experts for the opportunity to win cash and prizes. Additionally, on each episode, one business receives the JA Impact Award for the greatest social impact, a series tradition throughout all five seasons. The award includes a donation in the winner’s name to JA Worldwide.
Beyond his work with JA, David currently serves as the Chairman of The Napoleon Hill Institute and has had a distinguished career in sports and entertainment. A globally recognized entrepreneur, investor, and top business coach, David formerly served as CEO of the renowned Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment Agency, where he represented high-profile athletes and helped inspire the Academy Award-winning film Jerry Maguire. He went on to co-found Sports 1 Marketing, a global sports and entertainment marketing agency specializing in connecting athletes, celebrities, and brands for events, sponsorships, and charitable initiatives. He is also a best-selling author and host of The Playbook podcast, where he shares insights on business and personal development.
David’s influence extends beyond business. He has been recognized for his philanthropic efforts, including being named Sports Humanitarian of the Year by Variety. His commitment to giving back is evident in his support for over 5,700 charitable events, including many associated with JA.
David Meltzer's lifelong dedication to Junior Achievement and his professional accomplishments exemplify the values of leadership and service. His receipt of the 2025 JA Legacy of Leadership Award underscores a remarkable journey of inspiring and empowering the next generation.
