JA Worldwide Board of Governors: Alumni Member
The JA Worldwide Board of Governors encourages representation by JA alumni on the governing body. One seat is available to JA alumni through a nomination process. Nominees are pre-selected and shortlisted by the Board’s People Development Committee. The Board of Governors will select the final candidate. Elected alumni member serve in three-year terms, which begins in July 2025, with an onboarding period with the current alumni member prior to July.

Candidate Eligibility
Experienced JA alumni* are encouraged to apply to be the JA Worldwide Board of Governors alumni member. Alumni candidates should be familiar with JA programs and activities and have a commitment to JA’s mission to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. Candidates must have experience working with a JA alumni association or JA member country and have demonstrated strong leadership skills in education, entrepreneurship, or your own industry, ideally on a global basis.
*JA staff alumni, JA volunteer alumni, and other “non-student JA alumni” cannot apply to be the alumni member.

Requirements
Experienced JA/INJAZ/YE/etc. alumni from any JA location, age 20–30
Outstanding leader, entrepreneur, and/or changemaker with significant workplace experience, especially in a leadership role
Minimum of three years of active engagement with local, regional, or global JA location and/or JA alumni network
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Driven by a desire both to succeed and to give back; an exemplary role model for others
Trustworthy, passionate visionary, who is a strong communicator, is a good listener, and exhibits high integrity
Given the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals of the JA Worldwide Board of Governors, we are prioritizing applications from geographic areas, backgrounds, and industries not currently represented on the board.
Expectations
The elected alumni member serves a three-year term. Consistent with the expectation of all Governors, the alumni member is expected to attend at least one meeting in person annually and attend the other two meetings via Zoom or phone. The role of the alumni member is unpaid and JA Worldwide will not pay for any travel or other expenses incurred during the fulfillment of the role. Special arrangements to cover travel or expenses may be made on a case-by-case basis
