FedEx and the FedEx Cares platform are key success factors in driving JA’s impact around the world. With a shared focus on global entrepreneurship, FedEx and JA collaborate at the global, regional, national, and community levels.
The FedEx Access Award, presented at each of the six JA regional Company of the Year competitions, creates incentive for JA Company Program students to seek higher achievement through pursuit of the award. The signature award goes to the team with a business that is innovative, connects to new markets, creates jobs, and demonstrates commitment to sustainability, and social responsibility.
Young entrepreneurs competing for the award are inspired to think creatively and develop innovative ideas, while fostering an understanding of the value of global access to businesses and communities. In 2017, six companies—one from each of JA’s regions—were awarded the FedEx Access Award.
Thanks to funding from FedEx, the 2017 JA Asia Pacific FedEx Access Award winner, Team Hiraya, also appeared in a JA video that went viral throughout the Philippines.
FedEx also supports the International Trade Challenge in Asia Pacific, which has inspired more than 17,000 students in Asia-Pacific since its inception in 2007. To compete, student teams developed a specific product and created an original international marketing plan for a designated country, gaining first-hand experience of the roles that world trade, product distribution, and sales play in a market environment.
2017 also teed-up the FedEx Junior Business Challenge, a unique extension of the JA Company Program at five PGA TOUR cities in the United States. At each event, JA students pitched their business concepts to a panel of judges consisting of PGA TOUR players and a variety of successful business leaders.
The winning student company advanced to the final round at the PGA TOUR Championship in Atlanta, where the overall champion secured a $75,000 donation from FedEx for the local JA office to further support youth entrepreneurship.
